Not having been on a bike for many years I decided to do a double whammy to test the bike skills and my fitness skills. Did a spin class last night at Pitt Street FF with my friend Neyvinka - it was good, and I could of increased my resistance, but boy did I sweat. Took a while to get used to the uv lights and kept staring at the Eiffel Tower picture glowing on the wall, but overall managed a good class and the legs were a tad wobbly getting up the stairs at the gym.
This morning I did my first bike/swim mix. Short cycle from my house to the Enmore pool (1km each way) and swam 4olengths (1.3kms). It is getting easier to swim the lengths, the first 10 are the hardest but I have found that counting backwards helps motivate me to get to 0. From next week I will add 5 lengths on a week and incorporate some alternative strokes.
Feeling a bit tired and having abit of a sore butt from the bike seats I am ready to continue on this journey to getting fitter and who knows, will ride to Centennial Park soon.

My first Triathlon
I have started this blog to record my training and journey towards the BRW Corporate triathlon on 13 April 2008. Our team is called Born to Tri and consists of myself, Lizzi and Kate. Three chickadees from EY.
Very excited I am to kick start my training to improve my overall fitness and stamina for the very little triathlon. 400m swim/8km cycle/4km run. The run is my weakness so will have to ensure I build up my endurance for the 4km. Swimming is my strong point and quite happy to swim 2km in one session.
It has been a while since I have been on a bike outdoors and looking forward to doing some bike/swim training during the week and practising on Sunday's with my team mate Lizzi. Lizzi is a rowing coach who also rowed for many years and is a keen cyclist and runner. Lizzi does cycling as cross training for her rowers to improve fitness.
I am hoping to keep this blog updated with my training, my progress and of course my emotional state. Completing my certificate IV in personal training last year I am keen to get into the fitness industry and looking forward to putting my knowledge from the course and also from my previous sporting background into play to gain maximum results.
I have a training programme ready to go which will take me through the four phases leading up to the triathlon: base, build, peak and taper.
Lets go!
